Workshops and facilitation

About Miro

Online whiteboard for workshops and planning, with templates, voting, timers and AI help for grouping sticky notes.

Miro is an online whiteboard where a group can work on the same canvas at once. Facilitators use it for brainstorming, retrospectives, journey maps, planning sessions and offsites, often starting from one of its many templates rather than a blank board.

Facilitation tools matter for running a session well. A timer keeps exercises on track, voting lets the group prioritize, and the facilitator can bring everyone to the same part of the board. AI features can cluster sticky notes by theme, summarize a board or draft a starting diagram from a prompt.

There is a free plan with a limited number of editable boards, which suits a trial workshop. For a large session, prepare the board in advance, lock the parts people shouldn't move, and give newcomers a short practice area, since the first ten minutes on a new tool can eat into a tight agenda.
